IX

The Chu Lin; narrative. The intrigue of Duke Ling with the lady of Chu Lin.

1What to Chu Lin takes his car?
Hsia Nan is the leading star.
Not for Chu Lin does he go;
Hsia Nan ‘tis who draws him so.

2Oft his purpose to go there
At the court he will declare:—
"Yoke for me my goodly team;
I to-night in Chu will dream.
With those colts my way I'll make,
Morning meal at Chu to take."
